Educational Levels

Secondary School - 13–16 years

We focus equally on academic and personal knowledge and skills. As an international community, our intention is that SIS students become global citizens with a strong sense of their origins.
Academic Excellence

Building Knowledge and Developing Skills

Upon entering our bilingual Secondary School, our students are ready to start international language certificates preparations in English and German.

Aligned with the requirements of the Spanish education system, our Secondary curriculum combines high academic standards with the skills and confidence students need to thrive. At the end of Secondary School, students obtain the official Spanish ESO qualification (Graduado en Educación Secundaria Obligatoria).

IB World School (as of 2028)

Preparation for the IB Diploma Programme *

Our Secondary School accompanies students from age twelve to sixteen, laying the foundations for future pathways, including preparation for the IB Diploma Programme at CSM by SIS. During these years, students are supported both academically and personally as they develop the skills, knowledge and mindset required for college education.

CSM by SIS is a Candidate School* for the IB Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that CSM by SIS believes is important for our students.

Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org

Language Immersion

Bilingual Learning

Initially, students and their families choose one of the two language pathways offered: Spanish–English or Spanish–German. This enables students to continuously develop their language skills within a bilingual learning environment.

At Secondary School level, each subject is taught consistently in one language for at least one academic year. Great care is taken to ensure that students acquire important vocabulary in both languages and that the overall distribution of subjects taught in Spanish and in English or German is as balanced as possible.

As the bilingual pathways are being introduced progressively, please contact our Admissions Office to check availability for your child’s year group and intended year of entry.

Multilingual Students

Later, in Year 10, an additional foreign language is introduced (French), contributing to the development of an international mindset. Students also have the opportunity to prepare for language certificates in English, German and French.

Prepared for the Future

Learning for Life

Students develop several projects, putting into practice a number of skills acquired throughout their secondary school years. These skills involve time management, planning, critical thinking and transfer of learning, to name a few. As a school that values culture, different forms of expression and sports, we organise events such as music concerts, sports days, art presentations, field trips and many more.

We empower our students to become lifelong learners. At the end of secondary school, our students are prepared to participate naturally in classes taught in several languages and benefit from an education that offers both depth and breadth. They are academically and personally ready to progress with confidence into the internationally recognised IB Diploma Programme at CSM by SIS College.
